Biography: George was born in Islip, NY. He was raised at St. Agnes Convent in Sparkill N.Y. Growing up he played many sports; mainly football, and baseball as a catcher. After attending Tappan Zee High School, George had many odd jobs. He worked on the railroad as a "gandy dancer", installed gas lines with Bechtel, owned a sod business with his uncle, and even was a lifeguard on Miami Beach at the Fontainebleau. Eventually, George returned to Sparkill where he met his wife of 58 years, Phyllis.
George was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 445 for 35 years, retiring from LJ Kennedy Trucking. George's love for baseball led him to coaching little league in Piermont, N.Y., wanting "all the kids to play" no matter what skill level they possessed. He always dreamed of "flying his own plane" and did so when he joined the Ramapo Valley Ultralight Club.
George played ball with the Rockland County Senior Softball League, the Half Century Softball League, and the Kids & Kubs 3/4 Century Softball Club in St. Petersburg, Fl. He enjoyed playing golf and frequented the card room at Derby Lane after his retirement.
George and Phyllis have three Children, George Jr., Suzanne, & Julie and seven grand children.
